FAQs

Grief keeps its own timetable, so there is no too soon and no too late. Some people come to Grief Works in the first raw weeks; others come years after a loss, when everyone around them assumes life has settled. The programme meets you wherever you are, in your own time and your own way.

Many of us were brought up to believe that, and wanting to cope quietly is understandable. But grief carried alone tends to grow heavier, not lighter, and asking for support is not a failure of strength. 94% of people report feeling better or much better after using Grief Works. You do not have to do this alone.

It is a real fear, especially if you have been holding yourself together for everyone else. Grief Works does not ask you to relive anything; it helps you move gently between feeling the loss and finding rest from it, in small, manageable steps. Grief can look like waves of sadness, but also numbness, anger, anxiety or fog — all of it is allowed here. Grief shared is grief lightened.

There is no scale of grief. Whoever you have lost — a partner, a parent, a child, a sibling, a friend — however they died, and however complicated the relationship was, your loss counts. If it matters to you, this is for you.

No. Grief Works is a structured programme created by psychotherapist Julia Samuel MBE from over 35 years of clinical practice: 28 guided sessions, more than 40 practical tools, and living support from real people every day. It is designed to be a companion through grief, not another thing on your phone to keep up with.

Yes. You can message a trained bereavement counsellor 1-to-1 inside the programme between 9am and 9pm every day, and join weekly small-group meet-ups, a daily live morning session, and a monthly live Q&A with Julia. And if all you can manage for now is to listen quietly inside our private community, that is welcome too.

In whatever state the day finds you. Sessions are short — around ten to fifteen minutes — and you can do a little each morning, or simply reach for a tool in the moment grief spikes. It works on iPhone and Android, everything is simple to use, and there is nothing to fall behind on.

Not at all. Many people use Grief Works alongside a counsellor, a therapist or a bereavement group, and the two tend to support each other. The programme is there in the hours between sessions: on the nights sleep will not come, on anniversaries, in the moments help is hardest to reach.

Gently, and you are kind to think of it. Email us at feedback@griefworks.com and we will help you set up an account for them. It tends to land best as an invitation rather than a fix — offered once, with no pressure on them to use it.

The exact price and any current offer are always shown at the point you join, and membership works out at less than the cost of a single therapy session a month. Every plan comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee: explore the programme, use the tools, join the live sessions, and if it is not right for you, email us at feedback@griefworks.com within 30 days for a full refund, no questions asked. We know decisions are hard right now.
