Celia is a Board-Certified Clinical Social Worker and a nationally Certified Thanatologist
(grief therapist). She has an office in Little River, SC (temporarily located in Calgary, Alberta -2012-2013) and specializes
in all areas of grief and loss offering professional training, consulting, workshops, and seminars for agencies, faith communities
and other organizations.

GriefWorks was founded in 1995 by Celia Ryan as a response to the need for specialized grief and loss counseling,
information and education. In the last decade there has been an explosion of new and exciting
research in the death and dying field, research that supports what we really
experience when there is a significant life-changing
event in our lives.
She
has a special interest in complicated grief issues, forgiveness work, compassion fatigue and post-abortion healing. She is
an international presenter and trainer having presented in Spain, England, USA and Canada. She has been a clinical consultant
to several Maryland agencies. She developed a bereavement program for the Archdiocese of Washington.
Celia has run numerous support groups over the
years and started the DC Metro Area Bereavement Network Listserve. She is the author of several newsletter and newspaper articles
and has been a frequent guest on MD cable TV as well as guest lecturer at several DC Metro area colleges and universities.
She ran the first GriefWalk in 1999 as an alternate way to process loss and grief
Celia is no longer able to see individual clients but offers her thirty years of experience and
skills to the community. Celia offers seminars, consulting, training, and workshops.
